Highlight Report

Official Definition:
A time-driven report from the Project Manager to the Project Board on stage progress.

Layman’s Definition:
A regular (time-driven) progress update to the Project Board. It includes what is what’s going well, what’s not, and what’s coming next. More importantly, it confirms to the Project Board that the current stage is currently and still predicted to be inside the stage tolerances. This is just an update, no action or decision is required.

Examples:
• IT: "Sprint 3 completed. No major issues. Budget 5% underspent, which is inside tolerance. Integration testing next."
• Construction: "Steelwork 80% complete. Weather delays expected next week. Still predicting to finish within tolerances"
• Education: "Module design finished. Awaiting feedback. Risk: staff availability during holidays; estimated to be inside tolerances."

When to Use:
Typically weekly or monthly — whatever cycle is agreed by the Project Board.

What It Might Look Like in Practice:
• Short, structured summary on a regular basis.
• May include traffic light (RAG) status.
• Can be a written report or a verbal update.
